2006: World Refugee Soccer Day
Description
Companion House hosted a World Refugee Soccer day event with 300 people from refugee and soccer communities across Canberra showing up to participate in the event. One of the goals of the event was to bring the Sudan and Sierra Leone communities together. The event was a positive day for everyone involved. The Australian Federal Police Multicultural Unit attended the event to provide a BBQ, and also provided friendly interactions for the communities – providing a positive experience with police. At the end of the day the winning team was the Sierra Leone community who won with a score of 4-0.
